Educational content licensing
Original educational prose, activities, feedback, diagrams, and original synthetic fixtures are offered under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International, except where marked otherwise. Credit Isaac K. Nti, link to the source/version and license, and indicate adaptations.
Original Python/JavaScript/CSS, scripts, tests, configuration, and notebook code cells use the MIT License. Original explanatory notebook text uses CC BY 4.0. These are component-specific terms, not a choice of either license for every component.
External documentation, papers, libraries, services, fonts, and models keep their own terms. Links do not relicense their destinations. University master documents and student records are outside the publication boundary. Institutional course descriptions, module outlines and official outcomes are excluded from this repository’s license grants; any identified reproduction requires its own attribution and applicable permission or other lawful basis. No institutional sponsorship, endorsement, or course-credit equivalence is implied.
Only contribute material you are authorized to share. This notice grants rights in original contributions only. The full standard license terms govern their respective components.
External dataset in Module 5
UCI Bike Sharing retains its own CC BY 4.0 attribution: Fanaee-T, H. (2013). Bike Sharing [Dataset]. UCI Machine Learning Repository. https://doi.org/10.24432/C5W894. The downloader preserves the original archive/CSV/README, source, license link, retrieval time, and hashes. Derived preparation selects fields and creates lag features/splits. These data are credited to their source, not represented as original ML_AI_IT synthetic contributions.
Sources in Modules 6–14
UCI Wine Quality, SMS Spam Collection, and Adult retain their CC BY 4.0 source attribution and reviewed original bytes. The central source register and cache attribution identify creators/DOI, rights, and transformations. SmolLM2 retains its Apache-2.0 model-card terms and exact revision. Adapter configuration identifies the base dependency. External records/weights are not represented as original ML_AI_IT contributions. See docs/data-sources.md.
Authorship and institutional material
Isaac K. Nti developed this supplementary learning resource for students in the University of Cincinnati course he teaches. His authorship claim concerns the original instructional explanations, activities, worked examples, code and supporting materials he created. He does not claim ownership of the official University of Cincinnati course description, course learning outcomes or module learning outcomes. Those institutional materials guide the teaching and alignment of this resource and are excluded from its original-content license grants. Original contributions are licensed only to the extent their contributors are authorized to license them. This repository supplements the university course; it does not replace the official syllabus or alter institutional requirements.
Repository outcome identifiers describe the activities and evidence offered here. Similar subject coverage does not establish that wording is original, and small edits to institutional wording do not establish permission. Keep the official-to-resource mapping in the adopting instructor’s private alignment register. Identify any permitted quotation or adaptation locally with its source and rights basis; attribution alone is not a permission grant.
Author affiliation is biographical. These notices grant no institutional branding or trademark rights and imply no university sponsorship, approval or endorsement. They do not claim exclusive rights over general ideas, facts or standard subject names. Ownership questions depend on applicable university policy and any relevant agreements; this notice does not adjudicate them.
Reuse and attribution
Code examples embedded in Markdown, like notebook code cells, use MIT for original code; surrounding original instructional prose uses CC BY 4.0. Preserve the required notices and third-party credits.
Suggested attribution: “Adapted from Practical Machine Learning and AI Systems by Isaac K. Nti, repository/version [identifier]. Original educational content: CC BY 4.0; original code: MIT. Changes: [description].” This is an example, not an extra license condition.
History and corrections
A file’s presence in Git history does not grant rights in third-party material. These clarifications do not revoke permissions validly granted for original contributions or alter the standard MIT or CC BY 4.0 terms.
For provenance or attribution corrections, open a repository issue containing only nonsensitive details and the affected path. Keep agreements and institutional source documents out of public issues. Refer ownership or permission questions to the appropriate university office; approval has not been inferred from authorship or affiliation.
