You can use this course on Windows through Ubuntu in WSL2, or directly on Ubuntu 22.04/24.04. WSL is a Windows option, not a requirement for Ubuntu users. You do not need previous SQL or Python experience to begin.

  1. Choose your environment and install once. Both routes join the same Ubuntu instructions. Setup includes Lab 1's technical checks.
  2. Complete Lab 1's short writing activity using your setup results. No repeat installation or check is needed after success.
  3. Follow the required course path. It lists Labs 2–7, the companion discussions and capstone in one place. Check off work as you go.
  4. Keep your responses private. Enrolled students use the LMS for deadlines, official grading and submissions. Independent learners use the self-study guide and retain a local portfolio.

On returning: open Ubuntu, run cd ~/courses/IT4065C-Labs (or your chosen checkout location), and continue at your next unfinished step. See stop and resume if the database needs restarting.

A PASS or COMPLETE message confirms technical checks; each lab's submission checklist tells you when the learning activity is complete. Screenshots are optional unless a specific activity says otherwise; text evidence is accepted.

Use the foundations bridge when a topic is new and the glossary as a reference. You do not need to study every link first. Labs 1–7 are in labs/core; Labs 8–15 are in labs/optional. Follow the required course path for companion activities and the capstone.
